Tender prices rose well ahead of inflation in the year to 1 st quarter 2003, rising by 8.2%, compared with inflation of 3.3%, according to the latest issue of the BCIS Indices and Forecasts*. Tender prices in lst quarter 2003 also rose compared with the previous quarter, rising by 0.5%.

It should be noted that the sample received to date for I st quarter 2003 is quite small and the published figure is an estimate, therefore the index,for this quarter may vary more than is usually expected as the sample size improves.
